How the Lo Shu Grid Works ग्रिड कैसे बनता है
The grid has nine fixed positions. Every digit of your full date of birth (day, month and year) is dropped into its matching cell — and if a digit repeats, it stacks in that cell. The number 0 has no position and is skipped. The fixed layout is:
| 4 — Rahu | 9 — Mars | 2 — Moon |
| 3 — Jupiter | 5 — Mercury | 7 — Ketu |
| 8 — Saturn | 1 — Sun | 6 — Venus |
For example, someone born on 27-03-1990 has the digits 2, 7, 3, 1, 9, 9 (the zeros are skipped), so their grid shows one each of 1, 2, 3 and 7 and a doubled 9 — and the numbers 4, 5, 6 and 8 are missing. Some practitioners also add your Mulank and Bhagyank as two extra digits; this tool uses the classic date-only method.
Present, Missing & Repeated Numbers उपस्थित, अनुपस्थित व दोहरे अंक
- Present numbers are your active planetary energies — natural strengths you can draw on.
- Missing numbers are qualities to consciously develop. A missing 3 (Jupiter) points to confidence and expression; a missing 8 (Saturn) to structure and money discipline; a missing 9 (Mars) to drive and ambition. They are lessons, not flaws.
- Repeated numbers are amplified energies. One is balanced, two is strong, and three or more can be excessive — for instance many 5s (Mercury) can mean a restless, over-active mind that needs grounding.
The Planes & Arrows तल व तीर
When a full row, column or diagonal is completely present, it forms an Arrow of Strength; when a line is completely missing, it is an Arrow to develop. The three rows are also called planes:
| Line | Numbers | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Mental plane (top row) | 4 · 9 · 2 | Intellect, memory, planning |
| Emotional plane (middle) | 3 · 5 · 7 | Feeling, intuition, spirituality |
| Practical plane (bottom) | 8 · 1 · 6 | Action, the material world |
| Arrow of Willpower | 4 · 5 · 6 | Determination and resolve |
| Arrow of Sensitivity | 2 · 5 · 8 | Compassion and emotional balance |
The calculator lists every arrow you have and every one you are missing, so you can see your strongest planes at a glance. Arrow names vary between authors; we follow the common Lo Shu tradition.
Remedies for Missing Numbers अनुपस्थित अंकों के उपाय
A missing number simply means its ruling planet is quiet in your birth date. You can strengthen that planet with the same affordable Lal Kitab methods used across Vedic astrology — its lucky colour and weekday, a mantra, and simple donations. For example, a missing 1 is supported through Sun remedies, a missing 6 through Venus remedies, and a missing 8 through Saturn remedies. Explore the full system on the Lal Kitab hub.

Frequently Asked Questions सामान्य प्रश्न
What is the Lo Shu Grid?
A 3×3 number square where every line adds up to 15. In numerology your birth-date digits are placed in fixed positions on it, and the pattern of present and missing numbers is read as a map of your strengths and lessons.
How do I make my Lo Shu Grid?
Place each digit of your full date of birth into its fixed cell (skipping zeros); repeated digits stack. The calculator above builds it instantly.
What do missing numbers mean?
They are qualities to develop, governed by the missing number’s planet — not defects. They can be supported through that planet’s remedies.
What are arrows in the Lo Shu Grid?
A complete line of three present numbers is an Arrow of Strength; a completely missing line is an area to develop. The rows are also called the mental, emotional and practical planes.
Is the Lo Shu Grid Vedic or Chinese?
The grid itself is of Chinese origin, but Indian numerology adopts it and reads each of the nine positions through its Vedic ruling planet, tying it to Jyotish and Lal Kitab remedies.
Does the grid change over time?
No. It is built from your fixed date of birth, so your core grid stays the same for life.
Is numerology scientifically proven?
No. Numerology is a traditional belief system for self-insight and guidance, not a science, and not a substitute for professional advice.
